"My work is so rooted in the place that it cannot be separated from its place of elaboration: the work is the place." (Andy Goldsworthy, Water cairns)
Experience an artistic and sensory discovery in the heart of the largest open-air museum of land art and contemporary art. Enjoy the comfort of the Villa Gaia, a charming hotel, in Digne les Bains. And walk to meet the forgotten hamlets of the valleys of Haute Provence. This is the extraordinary experience that we offer you during this star-shaped stay.
The art created around Digne les Bains was designed to fit into a natural environment that is preserved but often abandoned by man, the world's first UNESCO Geopark. The works take on a new sense of rural development, contributing their originality while retaining their specificity as "in situ" works.
Encountering these works of art takes us through territories with a rich human past of life and work. They give our walks a purpose, but they don't dominate the environment. On the contrary, they blend in with it and ultimately enhance it, offering us the chance to take a fresh look at these landscapes and this life of yesterday!
Each day, your mountain guide will suggest a dialogue with the work of an internationally renowned artist: Andy Goldsworthy, herman de vries and Richard Nonas. Each in his or her own way sees nature as a sacred place in which man can fully find his place, provided he knows how to feel!
We'll round off our stay with a visit to the Promenade museum, whose grounds are home to a host of works of art, veritable hymns to the omnipresent water.
