What to expect

Living an artistic and offbeat discovery in the heart of the largest open-air museum of contemporary art, this is the extraordinary experience that we offer to the students during this outing near Digne-les-Bains.

The Musée Gassendi's mountain art collection features numerous works by contemporary artists, scattered throughout the natural environment of several communes in the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence, often in unusual locations. These works take on a new meaning in the development of the rural environment, contributing their originality while retaining their specificity as "in situ" works.

This outing will lead us to question three particular works: The Hannibal Pavilion by Trevor Gould and A Thousand Meal Trays by Stéphane Bérard, at Le Vernet, and Les Hydropithèques by Joan Fontcuberta in the clues of Verdaches.Beyond their artistic dimension, these works will be an opportunity to question the meaning of art and to awaken our critical thinking by questioning ourselves on the useful, the true and the false, with humor. We invite you to continue this outing by visiting the archives room of the Hydropithecus and discovering the work Collection index Digne, by Mark Dion, at the Gassendi Museum in Digne-les-Bains
