Land art at the thermal baths
Living an artistic and offbeat discovery in the heart of the largest open-air museum of contemporary art, this is the extraordinary experience that we offer to the students during this outing to Digne-les-Bains.
The Musée Gassendi's mountain art collection features numerous works by contemporary artists, scattered throughout the natural environment of several communes in the UNESCO Geopark of Haute-Provence, often in unusual locations. These works take on a new meaning in the development of the rural environment, contributing their originality while retaining their specificity as "in situ" works.
After a short half-hour walk, we'll approach the thermal baths, one of Andy Goldsworthy's Art Refuges , memory of men and start of his itinerancy. This mineral work is fully integrated into the unique natural and historical environment of the Terres noires de Digne-les-Bains. In this sense, it is a perfect example of land art: a work imagined in a precise place, for and with this precise place, subject to the vagaries of time. We'll continue our approach to land art with a hands-on workshop in which students will make a sensitive discovery of their environment. At the teacher's request, this workshop can be combined with a scientific writing game in which the work created comes to life.We invite you to continue this outing with a visit to the Promenade Museum in Digne-les-Bains.Tariff: 350 € / class
